Sandra Nasic The Signal Raritan River
Overall, I liked this album as a solo for Sandra. Some of the tracks have more of a pop chart sound to them, but I was really pleased with the album as a whole. If you're looking at this record thinking it's another Guano Apes album, think again.
While a few tracks still have that Apes tinge to them, Sandra has put a lot of work into this to make sure it's got a flow all it's own.Have an open mind while listening, and enjoy it for what it is- a great album for Sandra's first shot as a solo artist. I ran across this by accident as I haven't heard much about the Apes since they retired. About all that came about was Tamoto by Dennis which was pretty damn good. By accident I saw Sandra had an album in '07 so I tried to download from Amazon.de with no luck due to play rights. I ended up buying the CD from Amazon.com and rec'd it in about a week. The first four songs rocks and I just can't get enough to get to the rest of the CD. It is really, really good and the Apes are coming out with another CD in April called 'Bel Air'. I can't wait.PS: Why can't we get great music like this in the USA?
It seems to get good 'Rock and Roll' you have to get German or Finn music groups. Too much rap crap here. Much like the title says this is another great album by former Guano Apes frontwoman Sandra Nasic. You won't find the hard hitting grit of Guano Apes, what you will find is her emotion in the music. Listening to the album you can feel the heart, soul and dedication that makes her unique amoung many artists. The music itself does take a somewhat pop, dance turn.
I had the luxury of living in Germany in the past and seeing Guano Apes in concert she sells her music with the energy she throws out to you. Granted a CD isnt the same as the concert but you can still feel a emotion and a story behind the music. That in its self is a selling point and a 5 star from me.One can only hope more of her music hits US shores, and hold a dream for a Guano Apes come back.
