Sorry if this is a dupe, I checked the first 4 pages as was surprised there wasn't a thread already. I've been playing around with the free edition, and it's pretty slick.

I'm more than a bit uncertain about paying $10 to provide them with content for launch time, however. The interface is well done, and it runs on my Mac, which puts it in a very select group of games that doesn't require me to reboot into Windows. That by itself my ensure a purchase once the full release is out.Either way, check out the free edition (with limited parts) and see what you think.

I can get this to run on my laptop but not on my desktop for some reason. My laptop has crappy Acer graphics drivers and the latest DirectX stuff, while my desktop has the latest ATI and DirectX drivers so it's baffling as fuck to say the least. Tried running the desktop with the suggested 1024x768 res, tried it windowed, fullscreen, safe mode, nada. No joy.Anyways, did have some fun with the two creatures I created. Although, I did feel kind of guilty and could feel my 'sinning against nature' bar increasing with all the fun I was having. It should not be possible to put a single eye on a creature's stomach and a pincer mouth below that.

Of course, it's loaded up with spines and whatnot, but I feel kind of bad making them like that. Oh, well, it's fun!If I could get this to work on my desktop, I'd definitely purchase the full version but until then I'll stick with the trial on my laptop. Also, what are people's usernames for the Be cool to check out people's creations. Mine is 'Agreschn', like usual.Anybody seen any neat looking creatures? I saw that somebody had created a Mr. Saturn (from Earthbound) earlier in the day. Why would 99% creatures topple over? Obviously if it has two legs it can balance.

Just don't put the feet 5 meters in front of the center of mass and don't or 10 meters long arms in front of your creature. How do you control body size? Once I reduce/elongate the spine I'm left with a spaghetti snake-like creature. Can't add one only one arm? Only in pairs?I'm somewhat disappointed. Legs logic for instance seems to choosing the legs which have +2 for speed instead of +1. I would have expected different size/shape of legs affecting running, speed, jumping, etc.

It changes absolutely nothing. You make legs 20 meters high above your character's head and he'll walk exactly the same as if you had made normal legs. Also doesn't seem like you can control leg/arm size (muscle vs skinny, etc.). No effect anyhow it seems.Overall, pretty disappointed. There's no physics behind it.

They all look different, but in truth it makes absolutely no difference how it looks. Just the different +5 to bite, +3 to strike, etc. Pretty lame.I like the penis monsters. Well, in a non-gay sort of way.Nevyn: Not from what I've seen. In game you'd probably get better wings than the wings you have access to in there. Anyhow, again, wings.

Make the wings 10 feet long or 1 feet long, you get the same stupid +1 glide bonus. Make your creature's weight 900 pounds vs 30 pounds, still +1 glide. It's all visual, no logic behind anything.Should have been called: 'Spore creature visual editor'.While 'learning' how basic and empty the editor is, I was trying to figure out what would be a good length/width/mass for a horn for my creature. Too big it'll be too heavy, won't be able to walk, too small, won't do any damage. Well god damn, it doesn't make any fucking differences, it's all just plain damn looks, you get the same +1 to charge if your horn is 10 times bigger than your creature, or if it's half the size of a pocket knife and is at the end of your ass pointing at the ground.

Originally posted by SimpleMan:To import somebody else's creature, just copy the image into the folder, or drag and drop the PNG straight into the creator (I can't get this to work on a Mac).Use Command-Return to enter window mode, switch to your Sporepedia, then drag the downloaded image files anywhere into the window. One semi-stupid thing is that the game doesn't 'synchronize' with your online portfolio. So if you made a creature in the XP version and uploaded it for sharing, you still have to manually import the creature into the OSX version. Not that it's a big deal, but a sync option would be nice.

And in answer to my own question - This is taken from the readme'Spore Creature Creator keeps your creatures, movies, pictures, and animated avatars in a folder called 'My Spore Creations'.The location of this folder depends on your OS:Windows XP:.?My Spore Creations?
